The importance of Non-Farm Payrolls

Non-Farm Payrolls is a report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics every first FRIDAY of each month that provides new insight into the overall health of the U.S. economy and the performance of the labor market.
The report also shows the labor force participation rate, unemployment rate, average hourly earnings and among many other statistics.

The data estimates the total number of paid workers in non-farm business establishments and government agencies in the U.S. (not included farm workers, private households & non-profit organisations)
In a broader picture of an economy, growth in labor market indicates more people are making money. This leads to higher spending and it then increases gross domestic product (GDP). Increase in GDP is a sign of economic strength.
